Traditionally the courses on the Costa del Sol operate on a pay per play basis, however some courses are members only courses and many others are considering the prospect of becoming members only courses.
All courses offer buggy service and on a few of the mountainous courses it is a necessity even for the very fit, however this does not detract from the beauty of the courses. Players can either play 18 holes on one course or mix and match the front and back nine on any of the courses, thereby being able to cater for most golfers choice.
Close to La Cala Golf and situated in what is now known locally as Golf Valley is the beautiful Santana course with its rolling fairways carved out of what was once an olive grove, an exceptional parkland course appreciated by all. Nearby is also one of the oldest yet still very popular 36 hole complexes, that being Mijas Golf which with its wide fairways and very little rough is a very forgiving course whilst strategically positioned expanses of water and mature trees make it an idyllic setting yet make it still demanding.
The courses, Los Lagos and Los Olivos, are situated in the valley of Mijas, north of Fuengirola, only twenty minutes from the Malaga international airport and Marbella, and 3.5 kms. from the sea.
One of the newest courses on the Costa del Sol is Calanova Golf which is set in Golf Valley, Calanova golf slopes from one of the highest points to the valley floor. The course has an exquisite and spectacular layout and has a variety of golf holes with some of the best sea and mountain views in the Costa del Sol.
